If the vacuum is adjustable, set it on the gentlest level. Avoid vacuuming fringes, as it may lead to fraying.
When accidents happen, such as spills, gently blot the rug to remove liquid. If a stain sets in, try club soda and a tiny amount of detergent. Remember, be gentle with the rug, do not rub it too hard. An annual trip to a professional cleaner is an excellent habit to get into.
